How does this Superbuy shipping calculator work?
It does the same arithmetic as Superbuy's own shipping calculator, then adds the part Superbuy can't know for you: the duty and VAT your country will charge. Shipping on every Superbuy line is a price for the first weight step, a price for each extra step and sometimes a clearance fee or fuel surcharge. The tool works out the chargeable weight (actual weight or volume weight, whichever is higher), counts the steps, and applies the line's prices. The defaults are Superbuy's published example for Hong Kong UPS Economy: CN¥320 for the first 500 g, CN¥50 per extra 500 g, CN¥38 clearance.
The fastest accurate workflow: open Superbuy's calculator, pick two or three lines to your country, copy each line's step prices into the boxes above, and compare the landed totals rather than the shipping prices alone.
What is volume weight, and why does it change the price?
Carriers charge light, bulky parcels on space rather than weight. Volume weight is length × width × height in centimetres divided by a divisor, commonly 5,000, 6,000 or 8,000 depending on the line. A 40 × 30 × 15 cm box is 3 kg of volume weight at 6,000, even if the contents weigh 2 kg. That's why vacuum packaging (CN¥17) and folding shoe boxes (CN¥5) exist, and why free packaging removal is worth ticking. Check which divisor your line uses in its description on Superbuy.
How does the duty estimate work for each country?
| Destination | What the tool applies |
|---|---|
| United States | Your duty rate × goods value. No de minimis for goods from China since 2 May 2025; rates depend on the product and have changed repeatedly, so you enter the rate. |
| United Kingdom | Up to £135: 20% VAT on goods plus shipping. Over £135: your duty rate, then 20% VAT on goods, shipping and duty. |
| European Union | Up to €150: €3 duty per product type (since 1 July 2026), then VAT at your country's standard rate on goods, shipping and duty. Over €150: your duty rate instead of the €3. |
Tick "tax-inclusive line" when the Superbuy line says duty and tax are included, and the estimate drops both, because you've already paid them in the shipping price. Exchange rates default to early-September 2026 mid-market values (about CN¥6.71 per dollar); overwrite them with today's rate for large orders.
Worked example: 2 kg of hoodies to Germany
With the defaults (2 kg actual, a 40 × 30 × 15 cm box, divisor 6,000, CN¥600 of goods) and the destination set to Germany with one product type, the box's volume weight is 3 kg, so the parcel is charged as 3 kg: CN¥320 + 5 × CN¥50 + CN¥38 = CN¥608 in shipping. Duty is €3, and VAT at 19% applies to goods, shipping and duty together. Switch on vacuum packing in real life and the volume weight can drop below the actual weight, which on this line saves CN¥50 for every 500 g step removed.
What this estimator can't know
- Carrier handling or brokerage fees charged on delivery, which vary by carrier.
- Product-specific US tariff rates and any exemptions.
- Line-specific rules such as maximum weight, restricted items or minimum charges.
- Superbuy's reconciliation: shipping is charged on the estimated weight and adjusted to the carrier's final bill afterwards.
Use it to compare options and avoid surprises, then confirm with Superbuy's quote before paying. For the reasoning behind line choice, read Superbuy shipping; for the rule changes and dates, Superbuy tariffs 2026.
Superbuy shipping calculator FAQ
How do I estimate Superbuy shipping?
Open Superbuy's own calculator, pick two or three lines to your country and copy each one's first-step price, extra-step price, clearance fee and fuel surcharge into our estimator with your parcel's weight and box size. It returns chargeable weight, freight, duty and VAT for the US, the UK or 15 EU countries. Compare those landed totals, not the freight figures alone, before choosing a line.
Does the calculator include customs duty?
Yes, as an estimate built on September 2026 rules. EU parcels up to €150 get €3 per product type plus your country's VAT, UK parcels follow the 20% VAT split at £135, and for the US you type in the duty rate because goods from China lost de minimis on 2 May 2025. If your Superbuy line already includes tax, tick the tax-inclusive box so it isn't counted twice.
Why is my Superbuy parcel charged more than its weight?
Because bulky parcels are billed on volume weight: length × width × height in centimetres divided by the line's divisor, usually 5,000, 6,000 or 8,000. A 40 × 30 × 15 cm box counts as 3 kg at 6,000 even when the contents weigh 2 kg. Superbuy's vacuum packing (CN¥17) or free packaging removal can shrink the box, so tick one of them for clothing hauls.
Is this Superbuy's official calculator?
No. It's an independent tool from this site, which has no connection to superbuy.com. It runs on Superbuy's published pricing structure, with defaults from the Hong Kong UPS Economy example: CN¥320 for the first 500 g, CN¥50 per extra 500 g and CN¥38 clearance. Superbuy also settles shipping against the carrier's final bill, so confirm the official quote before you pay.
How many product types should I put in one EU parcel?
As few as you sensibly can. Since 1 July 2026, EU parcels worth up to €150 owe €3 duty for each product type, and VAT is then charged on goods, shipping and that duty together. Five hoodies count as one type; a hoodie, bag, phone case, mug and cap count as five, adding €15 before VAT. Group similar items into the same Superbuy parcel where possible.
